How to Play Madden NFL 97
Quick start
Learn the current roster and playbook in an Exhibition before committing to a season. Use safe runs and short passes on early downs, change the play when the defence overloads one side, and protect the clock late in the half. On defence, keep pursuit angles and switch players only when you can make the tackle.
Controls
D-pad: move players and navigate formations. A/B/C call the displayed play and select the matching receiver; tapping or holding changes the pass arc or speed. With the ball, use the face buttons for the listed dive, spin, power, or hurdle moves; on defence they switch, tackle, and jump according to context. Start: pause and open options.
