How to Play NHL 96
Quick start
Start with an Exhibition and leave line changes automatic while learning the new skating response. Move the puck with quick passes, use speed bursts only into open ice, and aim shots across the goalie. On defence, switch early, contain the puck carrier near the boards, and time checks instead of chasing. Use dekes and one-timers after the basic pass-and-shoot rhythm is reliable, then manage tired lines manually.
Controls
D-pad: skate, deke, and aim passes or shots. A: dump or lob the puck and perform the assigned defensive restraint. B: pass or switch controlled skater. C: shoot, check, or accelerate according to possession. Start: pause and coaching options. Hold C for shot power; timed passes set up one-timers, while goalie and line commands are described in the manual.
