How to Play Pirates! Gold

Quick start

Pick an era, nationality, skill, and talent, then win the opening duel to secure a ship and crew. Visit taverns for recruits and rumours, trade goods, and court governors before attacking enemy shipping. Keep food and morale high, divide plunder before mutiny, and retire while health, wealth, rank, rescued family, and land can still earn a strong score.

Controls

D-pad: Move highlights or characters, steer ships, and choose fencing directions. A: Confirm, attack, or fire a broadside. B: Secondary choice; raise/lower sails at sea and parry in a duel. C: Open the captain’s cabin/pause interface; with the direction away from an opponent, retreat from fencing. Start: Pause where supported.
