How to Play Sword of Vermilion
Quick start
Leave Excalabria as Prince Erik, gather clues in towns, buy equipment and maps, and explore first-person wilderness and dungeons for keys and crests. Keep notes on directions, upgrade the sword and armour before long routes, and return to an inn when supplies run low. Random encounters switch to real-time combat: circle enemies, strike from a safe angle, and use healing magic before health becomes critical.
Controls
Exploration: D-pad moves forward/back and turns; A performs contextual actions or healing magic, B cancels, C opens data screens, and Start opens or confirms the main menu. Combat: D-pad moves Erik, C swings the sword, and A uses the equipped magic or special action. Menu functions vary by screen, as listed in the manual.
