Choose Batman or Robin before play; their attacks differ visually, but their core abilities are the same. Keep A or C held while aiming with the D-pad to fire in eight directions, then release movement while still holding fire to keep that aim. Practice B twice for the high jump kick and Up+B under pipes for hand-over-hand travel. Collect matching colored weapon disks to raise the current weapon as high as level six, and save screen-clearing Destruction pickups for dense enemy waves.

The D-pad moves, crouches, looks up, and aims attacks. A and C both throw the current weapon or perform a close-range punch, kick, or headbutt. B jumps; press B again in midair for a high jump kick, or Down+B in midair for an angled kick. Up+B grabs an overhead ledge or pipe, where the D-pad swings, A/C attacks, B climbs higher, and Down+B drops. Start begins, skips intros, pauses, or resumes. A second player can join by pressing Start on controller 2.
