How to Play Troy Aikman NFL Football
Quick start
Choose preseason, season, or coach mode, select an offensive and defensive play, and read the formation before every snap. On offense, protect the ball, follow blockers, and throw only after a receiver separates; on defense, control a nearby player, keep outside containment, and tackle instead of chasing the quarterback on every down. Use punts and field goals when field position matters, and call audibles only after reading the opponent.
Controls
D-pad: navigate playbooks and move the controlled player. Face buttons snap, pass to eligible receivers, dive, tackle, switch defender, or activate kicking meters according to the current phase. Start pauses. The 16-bit versions share documented play systems, but no accessible Genesis manual confirmed the exact A/B/C receiver and defensive assignments; verify the button labels on the play screen.
