How to Play Aladdin
Quick start
Press START to reach the title screen, then again for the menu. Select a new game with the directional pad and press START. In the first chase, concentrate on jumping over hazards with button 2. When exploring later areas, collect rocks with Down and look for keys and Scarabs. At Try Again, Yes retries and No gives a password.
Controls
Directional pad: move; diagonal directions climb or descend stairs. 2: jump. 1: throw a rock or slash with the scimitar. Outside chases, double-tap Left or Right and hold to dash; press 2 while dashing for a long jump or 1 after a run to slide. Down: pick up a rock. Down + 2: step carefully past spikes. When hanging from a ledge, Up climbs and Down releases. Password entry: directions select, 2 enters a letter, 1 goes back and START submits.
Aladdin — About this game
Aladdin on Game Gear alternates between chase and flight sequences and more deliberate platform exploration. Streets full of obstacles demand quick jumps, while caves and palace passages ask you to find keys, open gates and work past traps. Rocks serve as both weapons and tools for certain locks; pick them up before you need them. Outside chase scenes, a running start opens up longer jumps and slides through narrow gaps. You can also catch a ledge and pull yourself up instead of falling short. Apples restore half a point of life, bread refills the gauge and Scarabs mark restart points. After a defeat, choose another attempt or take a stage password for later. Continues are unlimited, so each failed run can help you learn the next obstacle.
