How to Play Ariel the Little Mermaid
Quick start
At character selection, press Up to switch between Ariel and Triton, then START. Press Up to choose a difficulty and START to advance into play. Swim with directions and fire with 1. Press START, then 2, to check the map for yellow captive markers. Swim over a polyp or shoot it to free a merperson.
Controls
Directions: turn and swim; hold to swim faster. 1: fire the selected weapon. Hold 2 and press Up to switch normal/super weapons. Hold 2 with Right for Flounder, Down for Sebastian or Left for the digger fish; release 2 while holding that direction to call the friend. START: pause to status or resume. From status, 2 opens the map; START returns to play. Continue screen: 1 continues, 2 exits.
Ariel the Little Mermaid — About this game
Ariel the Little Mermaid for Game Gear lets you choose Ariel or Triton for an underwater rescue. Each of four levels asks you to find and free all the merpeople before defeating its boss. Swim over the enchanted polyps or shoot them to restore their original forms. The map marks captives in yellow and your position in red, making it a useful guide through the search. Each hero has normal and super attacks, while Flounder moves rocks, Sebastian frightens enemies and the digger fish uncovers buried treasure. Their help is a resource to manage alongside health and super-weapon supplies. Keys open treasure chests, and treasure can be traded for useful items. Explore with a route in mind rather than swimming past the people you came to save.
