How to Play Bubble Bobble
Quick start
Press START at the title. Use directions to select a one-player game and confirm with 1 or 2. Move with Left/Right, blow bubbles with 1 and jump with 2. Trap an enemy, then burst its bubble before it escapes. Hold 2 when a bubble rises underneath to ride upward.
Controls
Left/Right: move. 1: blow bubbles. 2: jump; keep holding to ride a bubble rising from below. START: pause to check score and stored items, or resume. Menu choices use directions and 1 or 2. Password entry uses directions to select characters, 2 to input and 1 to go back and change a character.
Bubble Bobble — About this game
This is a pre-release build of Bubble Bobble. Bubble Bobble for Game Gear turns every room into a small puzzle of movement and timing. Blow bubbles to trap ordinary enemies, then burst the occupied bubbles before the creatures escape angry. Clear all the enemies to advance and collect the food left behind for points. Bubbles also provide a way upward: hold the jump button to ride one rising beneath you. The cartridge contains 200 levels and supplies an eight-character password when a game ends so you can return to that stage. Special water, thunder and fire bubbles add stronger effects, but their power can also disrupt you at close range. The original game supports cooperative play through two linked Game Gear systems; solo play is available from the same mode menu.
