How to Play Clutch Hitter
Quick start
At the title, START opens mode selection. Choose a mode and game length with the D-pad and START or 2. Select teams, then a starting pitcher with 2. Pitch with 2; when batting, press 2 to swing.
Controls
D-pad: positioning and fielders. Pitching: 2 starts delivery; hold up for fastball, down for changeup or left/right for break during release. Batting: 2 swings, START during the windup bunts. Fielding: choose a base direction and 2 throws. Baserunning: base direction + 1 advances or leads; direction + 2 returns. START before the windup calls time; 2 opens substitutions.
Clutch Hitter — About this game
Clutch Hitter offers twenty-six major-league teams and a choice of five, seven or nine innings. Choose a starting pitcher, face the computer or play through the original Gear-to-Gear connection. Pitching, batting and fielding use different viewpoints and controls, so the same button changes function with the situation. Place the pitcher and catcher before delivery, then choose a fastball, changeup or breaking pitch as the ball is released. At bat, adjust your position and time the swing rather than chasing every pitch. Runners move automatically after contact, but extra bases, leads and returns need your attention. Call time before the windup to substitute a reliever or pinch hitter. Keep the inning, outs and runner display in view before taking a risk.
