How to Play Joe Montana Football
Quick start
At the title press up to choose one player and 1 to confirm. Choose a skill, then team with up/down; left/right changes division and 2 conference. Confirm with 1. Choose a play, snap with 1, select a receiver with 2 and throw with 1.
Controls
D-pad: move selected player and choose plays. 1: confirm team/play, snap and pass; on defense after a pass selects the player nearest receiver. 2: cycle receivers while dropping back; after pass control the receiver; before snap on defense cycle players. START: pause/resume during a play.
Joe Montana Football — About this game
Joe Montana Football lets you face the computer or use the original Gear-to-Gear connection against a friend. Choose a skill level and team, then decide possession through the coin toss. On each play, select a call before the snap rather than treating football as continuous running. Offense lets you drop back, cycle receivers and pass; after throwing, switch to the receiver to guide the catch. Defense lets you change your selected player before the snap and take the man closest to a receiver after the pass. Use field position and the next play in your decision, not only the longest possible throw. START pauses only while a play is in progress.
