How to Play Mortal Kombat 3
Quick start
Press START for a single-player game, choose a warrior with the pad and confirm with 1. Move Left/Right, use 1 for punches and 2 for kicks. Practice blocking with START before trying directional special-move sequences.
Controls
Left/Right: move. Up: jump; Up+Left/Right: forward/back jump. Down: crouch. 1: punch. 2: kick. START during combat: block. Down+1: uppercut. Close Forward+1: throw. Tap Forward then hold Forward: run.

Mortal Kombat 3 for Game Gear adapts the invasion of Earthrealm to a compact one-on-one fighter. Choose a warrior from the handheld roster and build a simple plan around their reach and special attacks. A forward tap followed by holding forward lets you run in to close space, but arriving within range does not guarantee a safe attack. Mix punches, kicks, low attacks and jumps while keeping START ready to block. The rhythm is different from pressing every available button on an arcade panel: make the two attack buttons count and watch how the opponent recovers. Single-player battles lead toward Shao Kahn’s forces, with each match testing the same fundamentals against a different pattern. Learn a dependable approach and retreat before attempting longer sequences.
