How to Play Mortal Kombat II
Quick start
Press START for a single-player game, choose a warrior with the pad and confirm with 1. Move Left/Right, use 1 for punches and 2 for kicks. Practice blocking with START before trying directional special-move sequences.

Left/Right: move. Up: jump; Up+Left/Right: forward/back jump. Down: crouch. 1: punch. 2: kick. START during combat: block. Down+1: uppercut. Close Forward+1: throw.

Mortal Kombat II for Game Gear takes the fighting tournament into Outworld. Choose a warrior and learn how their special attacks fit around the shared punches, kicks and defensive moves. An early jump can pressure an opponent, but repeated jumps become predictable; mix grounded movement with low attacks and wait for a missed strike. START is the block control during combat. Down with a punch produces an uppercut, while a backward low kick sweeps the opponent’s feet. Match the response to the distance rather than pressing both attacks at once. Health and time decide each round, and later opponents demand cleaner decisions. Practice a small set of reliable moves with one fighter before expanding to the rest of the handheld roster.
