How to Play Popeye no Beach Volleyball
Quick start
Press START, choose a single-player match and partner, then confirm with 1. Move beneath the arriving ball and use 1 to return it. Use 2 to jump and time 1 in the air for an attacking hit.
Controls
D-pad: move and position for the ball. 1: confirm, serve or hit according to the phase of play. 2: jump. Use 1 during a jump to attack. START: begin. Watch the landing point rather than chasing the ball’s height.
Popeye no Beach Volleyball — About this game
Popeye’s Beach Volleyball brings the cartoon cast into two-a-side rallies on Game Gear. Choose a partner and face Brutus’s team, watching the ball’s landing point before moving into position for a return. Start with the available partners Olive Oyl and Wimpy, then encounter more familiar characters as the competition progresses. Matches move beyond the beach to places including a wharf, garden, woods and castle before the final stadium. The default contest is a short race to seven points, rewarding steady returns as well as attacking chances. Bonus activities between matches include fishing, weightlifting and a slot machine. Keep rallies under control, set up near the ball and choose a jump attack when the timing gives you an opening.
