How to Play Side Pocket
Quick start
Press START and select a game. Aim with the pad, press 2 to start the power meter, then press 2 again at the desired strength. Hold 1 with the pad to adjust the cue-ball contact point.
Controls
Pad: aim the cue. Hold 1+pad: select contact point/spin. 2: start power meter, then shoot. Free ball: move with pad, 2 place, 2 confirm or 1 reposition. START: begin a game or display the balls already sunk.
Side Pocket — About this game
Side Pocket for Game Gear combines straightforward pool with a demanding set of shot-making challenges. Start with 9-ball to learn angles: the cue ball must strike the lowest-numbered ball first, even when you aim to pocket the nine. The Pocket Game rewards scoring through its progression, while Trick Shot asks you to solve arranged tables with a single stroke. Aim before starting the meter, then decide how much power the line actually needs. Holding 1 while adjusting the contact point adds spin, which changes where the cue ball travels after impact. Plan its next resting place as carefully as the ball you want to sink, and use free-ball placement to recover a useful angle.
