How to Play Sonic Drift Racing ~ Sonic Drift 2
Quick start
Press START at the title and select Free Run with the D-pad and 2. Choose a course and driver to practise steering before Chaos GP. Hold 2 to accelerate, steer left/right and use 1 to brake. For a drift, press 1 and 2 together while steering. Collect rings or a power-up and press up to activate it when useful.
Controls
D-pad left/right: steer; up: use the held power-up or driver ability. 2: accelerate and confirm menu choices. 1: brake and cancel or return in menus. 1+2 with left/right: drift. START: mode menu and pause/resume. From a paused Free Run, press 1+2 to leave the race. Most abilities cost two rings; Metal Sonic needs three.
Sonic Drift Racing ~ Sonic Drift 2 — About this game
Sonic Drift 2 combines racing lines with rings, power-ups and seven drivers whose cars handle differently. Chaos GP sends you through six races against three opponents, with Purple, White and Blue circuits offering different challenges. Free Run lets you practise any of the eighteen courses before racing for points, while a second Game Gear, cartridge and link cable enable Versus. Sonic trades handling for speed, whereas Knuckles is easier to guide through corners. Steering alone is not your only tool: combine both buttons with left or right to drift. Up activates a held power-up or a character ability, and abilities spend two rings, except Metal Sonic’s Super Dash, which costs three. Rings and held items do not carry into the next race. Learn the road, use resources before the finish and judge when a boost is worth more than keeping control.
