Quick start
Press START, choose 1 Player and confirm with START. Select a fighter with the D-pad and 2 or START. Use 1 for attacks, 2 for jumps and 1 at the jump’s peak for an aerial strike.
Controls
D-pad: move. 1: attack or pick up/use items. 2: jump. Tap a direction twice, then hold 1 for the fighter’s rush attack. 1+2 without a weapon: rear defense; with a weapon: throw it. 2 then 1: aerial attack. START: pause/resume.

Streets of Rage 2 on Game Gear brings Axel and Blaze back with Skate after Adam is captured. Choose among three fighters with different ratings for strength, technique, speed, jump and stamina. Each has a four-move attack cycle and a distinctive rush attack, so timing and spacing change with your choice. The fighting area lets you move around enemies rather than trade hits in a line. Break containers for food, points and weapons, and watch the section timer as well as the life gauge. A rear-defense move handles attackers behind you, but the same input throws a held weapon. The original game allows two different characters to cooperate through a Gear-to-Gear cable.
