How to Play Streets of Rage
Quick start
Press START, choose 1 Player with up/down and confirm with 2. Select Axel or Blaze with the D-pad and 2. Move into reach, attack with 1 and jump with 2; press 1 in the air for a jumping attack.
Controls
D-pad: move around the fighting area. 1: attack/combo or use a weapon; over an item, 1 picks it up. 2: jump and confirm selections. 2 then 1: jumping attack. Close movement grabs an enemy; holding the throw direction with 1 throws. START: pause/resume.
Streets of Rage — About this game
Streets of Rage on Game Gear follows Axel and Blaze as they challenge the syndicate controlling their city. Choose between the stronger brawler and the quicker fighter, then work through streets, a bridge, a ship, a factory and the headquarters. Moving up and down the fighting area helps avoid being surrounded; attacks become safer when enemies line up on one side. Combine repeated strikes with jumping attacks and close grabs, and collect weapons or food from broken objects. Time and health both limit each section. The original game supports two-player cooperation with a Gear-to-Gear cable, including throws involving your partner. Learn each enemy’s reach before committing to a combo.
