How to Play Super Columns
Quick start
Press START, select one player and a mode. Begin with Endless to practise: move left/right, use 1 to change orientation and 2 to cycle colors. Hold down only when the intended landing is clear.
Controls
Left/right: move column; down: faster drop. 1: switch horizontal/vertical. 2: cycle gem order. In Story/Versus, up+2 selects a gauge technique and up+1 activates it. START: confirm, pause or resume.
Super Columns — About this game
Super Columns expands gem matching with control over both orientation and color order. Arrange three or more matching gems horizontally, vertically or diagonally to clear them, then use the falling pieces to set up another reaction. Button 1 turns a falling column between horizontal and vertical, while 2 cycles its gems. Endless challenges your score, Flash asks you to remove flashing gems, and Story pits you against Surhand’s guards. Story and linked Versus battles add a gauge for tricks such as sending stones or disrupting the opponent. Choose a technique before activating it and watch your own stack while planning pressure. The original two-player mode needs two cartridges and a Gear-to-Gear cable.
