How to Play Tesserae
Quick start
Press START, choose One Mosaic and Beginner with the pad and 1, then select GO! or press START. Select a tile with 1, move to a blinking legal destination and press 1 again. 2 undoes a move.
Controls
Pad: move pointer. 1: confirm options, select a tile and move to a blinking legal destination; choosing elsewhere cancels selection. 2: undo the previous move, repeatedly if needed. START: title/menu start or begin another completed-board game. Symbol components determine legal jumps.
Tesserae — About this game
Tesserae for Game Gear takes the familiar idea of jumping over pieces and adds layers of symbols. A tile can contain one, two or three primary elements, so a move may subtract part of the jumped tile or combine the moving tile with its destination. The objective is to reduce a mosaic to one tile in as few moves as possible. Choose a single board or work through all nine in a tournament, with harder levels introducing more combined tiles. Select a piece to see its legal destinations blink, then plan where the next jump will come from. Unlimited undo helps you explore a line without losing the whole arrangement. Clear awkward combined pieces from corners and edges before they become isolated.
