Zan Gear adapts Sengoku-era warfare to a menu-driven Game Gear strategy game. The blue and red armies compete for territory, while neutral green forces can join either side. Gather soldiers, assess the map and choose which enemy stronghold to attack rather than spreading your strength everywhere at once. Capturing a castle extends your control, but a failed offensive leaves the next decision more difficult. Each turn begins with a small set of commands and related submenus, keeping the emphasis on planning.
