Go to the Shop before chasing a call. The manual recommends starting with a Ghost Vacuum, Capture Beam and Capture Traps; a beam is required to enter a haunted building. On the road, avoid cars, collect red fuel drums and use the vacuum on roamers. At the building, place the trap, spread the two Ghostbusters, fire the beams and steer the ghosts directly over the trap before pressing A to capture them. Return to headquarters when traps are full and keep enough fuel and cash to continue operating. Buy Ghost Food before entering Zuul, mash A to advance up the stairs and use B to open each floor's door.

Control Pad: move on the city map; on roads, Up/Down changes speed and Left/Right steers. During a bust it moves the left Ghostbuster, or the right one after B. A: enter a building with a direction, buy/sell in the shop, use the road vacuum, drop a trap/fire beams/capture ghosts, advance on the stairs when tapped repeatedly, and fire at Gozer. B: show Ectomobile inventory on the map, show money on the road, switch to selling in the shop, select the right Ghostbuster, and open stairway doors. SELECT: pause/resume. START: begin, leave the shop for the map, or place Ghost Food on the stairs.
