How to Play Goal! Two
Quick start
For a first match, leave the goalie on AUTO and the control scheme on its default DIAGONAL setting, which follows the slanted field. Pick an exhibition to practice or start SUPER CUP for the tournament, then select a team, formation, and starting lineup. Tap B for short ground passes and build possession instead of forcing a long ball. Use the Control Pad to aim, then press A for a long kick or shot when space opens. On defense, press B to switch to a player nearer the action, close the route to goal, and use A only when lined up for a shoulder or sliding tackle. Repeated slides can concede fouls, so positioning is the safer first lesson.
Controls
Control Pad: move in eight directions and aim kicks, passes, and tackles. A: with possession, perform a long kick; on defense, make a shoulder tackle when alongside an opponent or a sliding tackle from farther away. When a high ball is approaching, combine a direction with A for an overhead kick or diving header. B: tap for a short ground pass; hold to kick a higher, longer lob. Without the ball, switch the active player; with manual goalkeeping, switch control to the keeper. SELECT: while the ball is out of play, toggle Standard and Overhead views. START: pause or resume the match.
Goal! Two — About this game
Goal! Two is a late-era NES soccer game built around an angled overhead field and 24 international teams. Each squad has 15 rated players, so you can pick an eleven-player lineup and choose a 4-3-3, 4-4-2, Sweeper, or 3-5-2 formation before kickoff. Its two-button controls still cover ground passes, powered lobs, long kicks, curved balls, headers, overhead kicks, shoulder tackles, and sliding tackles. The options menu also lets you choose automatic or manual goalkeeping, fouls and offside rules, match length, field conditions, and the direction scheme. Play an exhibition alone, head-to-head, or cooperatively against the computer, or enter the one-player Super Cup, which begins with group play and continues through elimination rounds to the final.
