How to Play Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters
Quick start
Press START at the title screen, choose one of the available scenarios with the D-pad, and confirm with A. On the map, inspect the objective and use the List, Status, and Scientist commands before moving. Select a blue unit with A, choose Move, position it within its movement allowance, then attack an adjacent red monster or stand by. Select a base with A to schedule one useful reinforcement; laboratory weapons may require several turns. During combat, choose an attack with A and press A again to stop the slot display. When every unit has moved, attacked, or deployed, press B to open the main command list and choose End Turn. Protect marked vital points instead of chasing every monster blindly.
Controls
D-pad: move the map cursor and highlight menu choices. A: confirm a choice, open a selected unit or base menu, choose movement and attacks, and stop the battle slot display. B: cancel an operation; on the map it opens the main command window containing List, Move To, Scientists, Music, Status, and End Turn. START: advance from the title screen to scenario selection and begin setup. SELECT: not used during play.
Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters — About this game
Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters is a turn-based strategy game for the NES in which the player commands humanity's Allied Defense Forces rather than controlling a kaiju directly. Its twelve scenarios set different objectives and threats across map and battle modes: units move on a grid, bases deploy reinforcements, scientists provide hints, and monsters take their own turn after the player ends command. Tanks, aircraft, ships, missiles, and laboratory weapons differ in life, defense, movement, range, and suitable targets, so surrounding a monster and matching weapons to terrain or flight status matters more than rapid button input. Adjacent units can attack, then choose a weapon and stop a slot-style combat display before the monster retaliates. Some deployments arrive only on later turns, while losing every allied unit or allowing a vital site such as a nuclear plant or conference center to be destroyed can end a scenario.
