How to Play Grand Theft Auto
Quick start
Press A at the title screen and choose New Game. Follow the opening story and the on-screen mission marker for Mike’s first job; before roaming for side activities, learn the on-foot and vehicle layouts and return to the marked objective when prompted. Between missions, save by driving to the hideout and walking into its blue circle. Early cash can also come from taxis, ambulances and street races, but a wanted level can derail a mission, so avoid unnecessary collisions and gunfire until you know the route.
Controls
On foot, the D-Pad moves, B sprints, A attacks, R strafes, A+B jumps, SELECT changes weapon and L enters a nearby vehicle. In a vehicle, the D-Pad steers, A accelerates, B brakes and reverses when held from a stop, R uses the handbrake and L exits. Up+R sounds the horn or siren. START pauses; the pause menu can quit and offer a mission save.
