How to Play Great Battle Cyber

Quick start

Choose START on the title screen, then select one of the three heroes before Level 1. Learn the movement set immediately: double-tap Left or Right to dash, double-tap Down to hold a prone crawl, and press Down+B while dashing to slide. A jumps and B attacks; jump into marked projections when the stage expects you to hang. During a locked duel, avoid standing next to an enemy and mashing B. Let the opponent miss, step in for a hit, and retreat before the reply. A power-up replaces the hero's ordinary close attack with a limited-use ranged move, so save its shots for an enemy that gives you trouble. Select CONTINUE at the title if you have a stage password.

Controls

D-pad Left/Right: move; double-tap either direction to dash. D-pad Down: crouch; double-tap Down to lock into a prone crawl. While dashing, Down+B performs a slide. A: jump. B: attack. Hold Up or Down with B to change attack height; press B in the air for a jumping attack. Jumping into designated projections lets the hero hang. On the title screen, use the D-pad to choose START or CONTINUE; CONTINUE opens password entry. The checked game-specific sources do not document a normal SELECT function.

Great Battle Cyber — About this game

Great Battle Cyber is a 1992 Famicom side-scrolling action game developed by Arc System Works and published by Banpresto. At the start of each level, choose Kamen Rider BLACK RX, Nu Gundam or Ultraman Taro; that hero remains active until the level ends. The 15-stage campaign alternates demanding platform sections with encounters that lock the screen for one-on-one, life-bar combat against villains drawn from the three series. Running, crawling, sliding and grabbing fixtures are as important as attacking when pits, moving platforms and forced scrolling block the route. Each hero normally fights at close range, while power-up items provide a limited supply of stronger ranged attacks. Continues and passwords let you resume the long assault on Dark Brain's base.
