How to Play Great Deal
Quick start
Practice on the empty first board before worrying about elaborate chains. Keep the center open, assign outer columns to different suits, and use B to cycle a troublesome card behind the other choices. Spend some A-button thinking time whenever a placement could accidentally complete the wrong three-card group. Later antes rise sharply, so build a cushion early with four- or five-card matches and clean-board bonuses; saving the joker for a large final group is much safer than letting it block the well.
Controls
D-pad Left/Right: move the falling card across the well. D-pad Down: accelerate its descent. A: spend the limited thinking-time meter to freeze the fall while the board remains visible. B: cycle the available cards shown in the upcoming-card queue. START: pause with the playfield blanked; press again to resume.
Great Deal — About this game
Great Deal is Hect's 1991 Famicom puzzle game built around a deck of 52 standard cards plus a joker. Cards fall into a five-by-five well and disappear when valid groups of matching ranks, suits, or consecutive values line up horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. The player can cycle among four upcoming cards and spend a limited reserve of thinking time to freeze a falling card while keeping the board visible. Across nine stages, the drop speed, starting layout, and required ante become increasingly demanding, so clearing space is only part of the challenge: strong hands, chains, and clean boards are needed to build enough points for later rounds.
