How to Play Gumby vs. the Astrobots
Quick start
Press START at the title screen, choose New, select a save slot, enter a name and choose a difficulty. Start with the first book on the shelf and explore its platforming stages to find Gumby's missing friends. Collect the ice creams shown by the stage counter, use pie slices as your four health chances and reach each book's goal. Early on, use ordinary jumps and head-stomps carefully: one stomp briefly disables an Astrobot and a second defeats it, while later books introduce shape-changing moves for ramps, walls and hovering.
Controls
D-pad: move Gumby and navigate menus. A: jump, attack and confirm a menu choice. B: change form when an ability is available, or go back in menus. L and R: charge left or right. START: pause during play. The manual identifies A as Jump/Attack/Select and B as Change form/Back; some mine-cart and story transformations trigger automatically at the relevant obstacle.
