How to Play Hanjuku Hero
Quick start
Begin a new game from the Chinese title menu and study the opening map. Leave one general to guard the home castle, then send the others toward nearby enemy forts rather than stacking everyone on one route. Use the D-pad to move the cursor, A to confirm, and B to back out. In battle, hold or press A to drive your troops forward, but watch the strength gauge; if the line begins collapsing, open the battle menu with B and consider a trump card or Egg Monster. At the monthly phase, replace lost soldiers and reinforce exposed front-line castles before moving again. SELECT shows the map, and START on the campaign map opens the system menu.
Controls
Campaign/menu: D-pad moves the cursor; A confirms; B cancels; SELECT opens the map; START on the campaign map opens the system menu. Battle: A spends the strength gauge to press the attack/advance; B opens the battle menu. Use that menu to choose translated options such as trump cards or summoning the general's Egg Monster. These inputs are documented by a Chinese guide that explicitly discusses Waixing's Long Zhu Ying Xiong version, rather than inferred solely from the Japanese cartridge.
Hanjuku Hero — About this game
Long Zhu Ying Xiong is Fuzhou Waixing's unauthorized Simplified Chinese translation cartridge of Square's Famicom game Hanjuku Hero, catalogued as ES-1023. Despite the new title, it is not a Dragon Ball game. The young prince sends generals from castles across an active campaign map, captures every enemy stronghold, and handles monthly income, troop recruitment, fortification, new officers, and special items. When armies meet, their soldiers push against one another in real time: A spends the strength gauge on an aggressive advance, while B opens the combat menu for trump cards or an egg summon. Egg Monsters can overturn a bad fight, but repeated use weakens the egg, making monster castles and recovery decisions important. The Chinese release translates and sometimes heavily renames character and item text, so its terminology differs noticeably from the Japanese original.
