How to Play Harvest Moon DS: The Tale of Two Towns
Quick start
Start a new game, choose your farmer and hear both mayors before selecting Bluebell for livestock or Konohana for crops. Follow your mayor's introduction. On Spring 2, accept the green Life in Bluebell or Life in Konohana request and complete the board tutorial that day. Then use the early green requests to learn hand fishing and insect catching while tending your farm.
Controls
DS controls: D-pad moves; A talks, confirms, picks up items, mounts the horse or uses an equipped tool. B cancels, jumps or dismounts. X opens the rucksack; Y puts a held item away. R assigns a tool to A; L switches walking/running. SELECT changes the town map view; START is unused. Touch the lower screen to manage inventory and shipping, not to move your farmer.
Harvest Moon DS: The Tale of Two Towns — About this game
Bluebell and Konohana share a mountain but disagree over cooking, and their connecting tunnel has been sealed. As a new farmer, you choose where to settle: Bluebell has more room for animals, while Konohana offers more land for crops. You can still visit both communities, gather supplies on mountain paths and use their different shops. Cooking festivals gradually bring the towns closer together, while request boards give everyday work a social purpose. The choice of home shapes your early routine without closing off the other town. This Nintendo DS version pairs button-controlled movement with lower-screen inventory management; its farming life does not include the extra animal-petting minigame added to the 3DS edition.
