How to Play Phoenix: Karma Chapter – Gao's Adventure
Quick start
Begin with START and head right through the coastal stage. Throw the chisel at treasure chests and collect defeated enemies' blocks before they stop moving. At a tall obstacle, use down+B to place a foothold and jump up. If your route starts looping, investigate breakable surfaces and press up at a warp entrance. Keep SELECT for deliberate recovery from a trapped position: it sacrifices a life rather than opening a menu.
Controls
Left/right: move; down: crouch; A: jump. B: throw a chisel; up+B: throw upward. Down+B: place a collected gargoyle block beneath Gaou, even in the air. Three crouching jumps with down+A break certain floors or blocks below. Up at a warp: enter it. START: begin/pause. SELECT during play: sacrifice a life; on game over: choose CONTINUE or RETRY, then confirm with START.
Phoenix: Karma Chapter – Gao's Adventure — About this game
Hi no Tori: Gaou no Bouken combines side-scrolling action with a construction mechanic. Gaou attacks with a sculptor's chisel, then collects the moving gargoyle blocks left by enemies. Those blocks become portable footholds: place them underfoot, including in midair, to reach ledges or bridge awkward gaps. The goal is to recover sixteen pieces of a stolen Phoenix carving across Yamato, the future, and prehistoric times. Simply clearing stages in order is not enough, since hidden warps connect the eras and open otherwise unreachable destinations. Breakable walls and floors therefore deserve as much attention as enemies. Limited time, vitality, and block supplies keep exploration from becoming a leisurely building exercise.
