How to Play Higemaru Makaijima: The Great Adventure of the Seven Islands

Quick start

Press START. Seek the stationary pirate ship near the northeast side of Ookami Island; moving pirate ships do not yield island keys. Board it, lift barrels with B, face pursuing pirates, and press B again to throw. Clear the required crew and beat the captain, then use the key at Cuck Island’s gate. Check your password with SELECT while on foot.

Controls

D-pad: move the ship or Momotaru in four directions. A: accelerate while sailing; jump on foot. B: lift a barrel or rock in front of you, then throw it in the direction faced; unused while sailing. START: start/pause. SELECT: status and password screen when not sailing.

Higemaru Makaijima: The Great Adventure of the Seven Islands — About this game

Momotaru’s voyage alternates between searching the sea and exploring island paths. Boarding the right pirate ship lets you fight through its crew and challenge the captain for an island key. Ashore, nearby barrels and rocks become weapons rather than mere obstacles. Defeating enemies and collecting supplies replenish the same points that serve as your life, so combat can help recover from damage. Island bosses, hidden objects, and clues all stand between the sailor and the legendary treasure.
