How to Play Hudson Hawk
Quick start
Press START at the title and again after the mission briefing. In the opening auction-house mission, practice jumping with A and tapping B to throw a softball. Crawl with down plus a direction beneath low hazards; climb with up/down. If a ledge is too high, look for a crate or chair to move into position.
Controls
Left/right moves and pushes suitable objects. Down crouches; left/right then crawls, and up stands. Up/down climbs ladders or ropes and moves platform lifts; up enters suitable openings. A jumps. Tap B to throw a softball, hold B to punch. In this Japanese release, START opens the pause/status screen and resumes; SELECT changes sound options within that screen.
Hudson Hawk — About this game
Hudson Hawk on NES makes burglary a platforming problem. Eddie must work through guarded interiors, climb ropes and ladders, crawl below hazards and use furniture or crates to reach higher ledges. His softball is useful beyond combat: it can operate switches that temporarily disable electrical obstacles. Some enemies are only stunned by a hit and need a close-range punch afterward. Instead of rushing into the next screen, watch the route and learn where a switch changes the environment.
