How to Play Ikari Warriors
Quick start
Select one or two players with SELECT, then press START. In the opening area, clear soldiers with B, save A grenades for obstacles or heavier threats, and pick up ammunition before the counters run low. Use rocks and walls as cover but keep clear of incoming explosives. A flashing tank can be entered by standing over it and pressing A; watch fuel and leave before it reaches zero.
Controls
D-pad moves and changes facing; B fires the gun, A throws a grenade. SELECT chooses player count; START starts and pauses/resumes. Tank: B fires the cannon; hold A with the D-pad to turn the turret. To leave, release the D-pad, hold A, then press B; pressing B before A instead triggers self-destruction. These are NES inputs, not independent arcade movement and rotary aiming.
Ikari Warriors — About this game
Ikari Warriors on NES is an overhead military action game built around survival rather than an endless supply of firepower. Bullets and grenades have separate stocks, so dropped supplies matter as much as weapon upgrades. Tanks offer protection from ordinary bullets but need fuel and remain vulnerable to explosives; helicopters add another way to cross difficult ground. Four long areas demand careful movement, awareness of enemies approaching from several sides and patience when changing facing. Two players can fight together, although crowding the same space makes the battlefield harder to read. This is the console adaptation, not the arcade rotary-joystick version.
