How to Play Image Fight
Quick start
Choose the player count with SELECT, then START. In the opening simulation, fire with B and try A speed changes until movement feels manageable. Destroy POW cases and collect pods deliberately: blue for forward coverage, red for shots away from your movement. Watch the first boss's ring lasers. Aim to destroy enemies consistently across the five simulations, since their average rating should reach at least 90% to avoid extra training.
Controls
D-pad moves OF-1. B fires; A cycles movement speed through four levels. With pods equipped, A+B together launches the pod attack, not a screen-clearing bomb. SELECT chooses one or two players at the title; START begins and pauses/resumes. Score and remaining ships can be checked while paused.
Image Fight — About this game
Image Fight on NES is a vertical shooter in which the OF-1 can change movement speed without collecting a speed item. Its weapon layout matters as much as dodging: blue pods fire forward, while red pods aim opposite the ship's movement, and up to three can be carried. Additional attachments offer different firing patterns. The first five stages are simulations, with destruction ratings deciding whether the pilot proceeds directly to real combat or needs supplementary training. Three real-combat stages follow. Learning enemy approaches, choosing useful equipment and keeping room to maneuver makes this more than a simple exercise in holding fire.
