How to Play The Light of Indra
Quick start
Choose a player slot with the D-pad or SELECT, press START and enter a name of up to four characters with A; B deletes a mistake. Speak to both people in the starting house before leaving, and equip the knife and leather shield you receive through the inventory's equip command. In Farei, locate the chapel and save by choosing ざんげ する, or confession. Stay near town for your first battles and return to recover HP. Move into a monster to fight; avoid contact when unprepared. Speak face to face with townspeople and watch that later companions actually follow you.
Controls
D-pad: walk and select characters or commands. A: open the walking menu and confirm a selection. B: cancel/back; delete a character during naming. START: begin the selected game. SELECT selects a title-screen slot; the manual also assigns text-speed adjustment to it. Field SELECT offers マニュアル/オート battle control, as documented in the walkthrough. Battle choices include たたかう (fight), じゅつ (arts), もちもの (items) and にげる (run). Talking is by face-to-face contact, not a separate talk button. Save with the chapel priest's confession command, not SELECT.
The Light of Indra — About this game
Indora no Hikari blends menu-based battles with an overworld explored one screen at a time. Monsters are visible, so choosing when to make contact is part of travelling rather than an unavoidable stream of random encounters. Townspeople supply the clues needed to advance, but you must approach them face to face to speak. Companions can join the hero, and keeping them together matters: followers may lag behind or get stuck instead of neatly following every turn. Equipment, healing and spell knowledge support the search for the stolen light that once sustained the planet. It rewards careful preparation more than rushing to the next battle. A chapel priest records your progress through the confession option, while inns and supplies help prepare for the next excursion.
