How to Play Insector X

Quick start

At the title, use up/down to select 1PLAYER and press A. Move the character marker under Miu/FOR GIRLS for an easier first attempt and confirm with A; press START when PUSH START BUTTON appears. Move with the D-pad, hold B for Miu’s main fire and use A once you have a special weapon. Leave room to dodge instead of flying into pickups surrounded by enemies.

Controls

D-pad moves and selects modes. At the title, up/down chooses and A confirms; at character selection A or START confirms and B cancels, then START launches play. B fires the beam; A fires an acquired special weapon. START pauses/resumes. SELECT is a selection button, not a screen-clearing bomb.

Insector X — About this game

The Famicom edition of Insector X keeps the cartoon insect battles but adds a meaningful character choice. Anny offers the standard challenge; Miu begins with stronger firepower and automatic fire, making her a useful starting point. Both fly through five rounds against mechanical insects, collecting upgrades for the regular beam and a separate special weapon. The latter has different aerial and ground-focused forms, so a pickup can change how you cover the screen. The two-player mode alternates turns rather than putting both pilots on screen together. After the fifth round, another loop begins.
