How to Play International Karate Advanced
Quick start
Select Practice first to learn how directions change each punch, kick, jump and defensive posture, then enter Tournament or Dojo with a starting fighter. The main goal is to outscore increasingly skilled opponents and progress from white belt to black belt; some bouts place three fighters on screen, so avoid standing between both rivals. Begin with short, safe directional strikes, block or step away after a miss, and use the Bonus Games to learn timing while improving the high score. More characters and international backdrops appear as progress is made.
Controls
D-pad: move, jump/crouch, choose the direction and height of a technique, and navigate menus. A/B: execute the punch, kick or defensive action associated with the held direction; A confirms and B cancels in menus. START: pause. Use a direction together with an action button rather than mashing both buttons: the game reads directional combinations as different strikes and defensive postures. Published GBA sources do not document a reliable universal L/R/SELECT function, so none is claimed here.
