How to Play Jagged Alliance
Quick start
Start a new campaign and examine the A.I.M. mercenary choices before spending your budget. Hire an affordable team and review equipment, then enter an enemy-held sector. Select one mercenary, check action points and move a short distance. Keep enough points for a shot or a useful posture change; secure the sector before expanding your payroll and territory.
Controls
Use the D-pad to pan the sector camera. Tap a mercenary to select them; if the small figure is hard to select, use the menu bar and their name. Use the touch-screen action and inventory menus to equip the selected mercenary and issue movement or firing commands. During combat, check the displayed action-point cost and confirm the intended tile or target before spending points.
Jagged Alliance — About this game
Your campaign begins with people as much as weapons. Mercenaries hired through A.I.M. bring different skills, equipment and personalities to the island of Metavira, where a struggle over medicinal tree sap has become an armed occupation. You lead the team through hostile sectors in turn-based battles, spending action points to move, change posture and fire. The remaining points determine whether an ambitious advance leaves anyone able to shoot. Secured territory also needs guards and sap workers, making payroll and income part of the campaign beyond each firefight. On DS, the stylus handles selections and menus while the D-pad moves the camera across large sector maps. A measured start is to keep a small affordable team together and learn the cost of movement before taking longer routes.
