How to Play Jaws
Quick start
Press START, leave port and collect shells during underwater encounters. Use B to shoot while keeping clear of creatures. Visit the other port with at least five shells to obtain the tracking receiver, then alternate ports as you gather more shells and improve your power. Save the final confrontation for after you have weakened Jaws; there, line up the boat before using a strobe and striking.
Controls
D-pad moves the boat, diver or mini-sub. B fires the diver’s spear or the sub’s torpedoes; A drops the sub’s bombs. In side-view boat combat, A drops bombs right and B left. During the aircraft bonus, left/right adjusts speed and either A or B drops bombs. In the final scene, left/right positions the boat, A uses a strobe to raise Jaws and B strikes with the boat. START starts or pauses; SELECT is unused.
Jaws — About this game
Jaws mixes a sea map with side-view underwater encounters. Sailing between two ports lets you trade collected shells for equipment and power improvements, while diving means avoiding sea creatures and firing your spear. An aircraft bonus sequence provides another opportunity to earn shells. The objective is not simply to survive one shark encounter: build up your strength, reduce Jaws’s power, then finish the hunt in a separate boat confrontation. Crabs increase the diver’s speed, so movement and positioning change as you collect them.
