How to Play Jimmy Connors Tennis
Quick start
Use Up/Down to select menu options and Start, A, or B to confirm. Choose 1 PLAYER, then PRACTICE for a first session; select 100 balls and Beginner, where the machine aims toward your player. Move into position before holding A, then release it as the ball reaches your racket. For the season, choose PLAY, the number of sets needed to win, and the opponent's level. Enter a name with the D-pad and A/B, then Start to finish; pressing Start without a name selects Jimmy Connors.
Controls
D-pad: move; Left/Right also aim shots, while Up/Down modify the lob/drop trajectory according to court position. A: normal stroke or serve. B: powerful stroke or serve. Hold a shot button to prepare and release it to hit; a longer hold increases power, but preparation stops your movement. Start pauses, and any button resumes. Start+Select requests withdrawal; in PLAY, B confirms surrender. In PRACTICE, that combination returns to the practice-level menu. Menus use Up/Down and Start, A, or B to confirm.
Jimmy Connors Tennis — About this game
Jimmy Connors Tennis sends one player against the computer, or two players against each other, through a season of tournament finals. Each victory adds prize money, with the richest player winning the season. Grass, hard, and clay courts provide the settings, while the match format can require one, two, or three winning sets. The stroke system rewards preparation: get into position before holding a shot button, then release it to strike. Practice offers 100, 200, or 300 balls, with a ball machine for solo training and alternating serves for two players. Passwords issued after tournaments let you resume the season.
