How to Play Kid Niki: Radical Ninja
Quick start
Use SELECT to choose a one-player game and START to begin. In the opening mountain stage, practise jumping onto the platforms while attacking enemies before landing beside them. Keep moving carefully across the gaps instead of rushing into the water. At the first boss, watch the jump and breath attacks, move in for a strike, then recover the sword if it is knocked away. Pick up the scroll after winning to finish the round.
Controls
Left/Right: move. Down: crouch. Up: climb trees or ladders. A: jump, with directional control in the air. B: use the spinning sword. Combine jumping and sword attacks to hit airborne enemies. SELECT chooses one or two players on the title screen. START begins play and pauses or resumes an active game.
Kid Niki: Radical Ninja — About this game
Kaiketsu Yanchamaru is the Japanese Famicom release of the game known in English as Kid Niki: Radical Ninja. Its young swordsman fights with a blade that spins in front of him, making the approach to an enemy as important as the attack itself. Stages mix close-range combat with gaps, climbing and hazards that punish careless landings. Boss encounters add another problem: a successful strike can send the sword flying, leaving you to retrieve it before attacking again. The Famicom port includes mid-stage recovery points and temporary bell power-ups. This is the Japanese presentation, with Yanchamaru’s traditional hairstyle and the original cast names, not the sequels’ different movement systems.
