How to Play Xexyz
Quick start
At the title, use Select to highlight START, then press Start. Learn the opening weapon with B and jump with A; Up+A gives a higher jump. Stand in front of a doorway and press Up to enter. Check rooms for conversations and items, gather energy balls for purchases, and look for the star-shaped key needed to enter the mechanical castle. Area 1 introduces a bouncing ball weapon and a wing upgrade; with the wing, repeated A presses let Ken walk through the air.
Controls
D-pad: move Ken; Up at a doorway enters the room. In action stages, A jumps, Up+A jumps higher, and B attacks. The starting beam fires upward with Up+B. With the wing item, tap A repeatedly to move through the air. In conversations, use the D-pad to choose, A to advance/accept and B to advance/cancel. Start begins play and pauses it; Select chooses START or CONTINUE at the title. For passwords, choose 0–F with the D-pad, enter with A, use B to return to an incorrect position, and press Start when finished.
Xexyz — About this game
Kame no Ongaeshi: Urashima Densetsu keeps the turtle-rescue story missing from its American adaptation, Xexyz. Ken Urashima helps a turtle and is taken to Aquarius, where the Machine Beast Empire has captured six princesses. On foot, he explores islands, visits rooms and acquires weapons before entering the mechanical castles. Star-shaped keys open the way, while energy balls serve as currency. Rescuing a princess leads into a shooting section aboard a cyborg beast. The alternating stages combine finding useful rooms with learning enemy patterns. This is the Japanese story and character set, not Apollo's rewritten American backstory.
