How to Play Karateka

Quick start

Start with START and go to the right on the path without enemies. When your opponent appears, press down to prepare before they get too close, and first check where A's kick and B's thrust will reach. Instead of staying close and striking each other, deliver a blow as the enemy steps in, and if necessary, move back to the left and regain distance. Even when your physical strength is low, it's basic to retreat and wait for it to recover. When you run next, release your stance above, but be careful not to leave yourself defenseless if there are still enemies nearby.

Controls

Right: forward. If you stand upright, you can run. Bottom: Get into a fighting stance. Left in stance: Retreat. Above: Release the stance and stand upright. While in stance, press A to kick and press B to punch. Use the upper, middle, and lower rows in combination with the top, right, and bottom of the manual. START: Start the game. This is not a work that uses A as a normal jump button.

Karateka — About this game

Karateka is an action game in which a karate expert enters a castle to rescue Princess Mariko from being captured by General Akuma. It features a unique operation that allows you to switch between a running stance and a fist or kick stance. Enemies will appear one by one, and rather than just hitting them repeatedly, it's important to assess the moment when your opponent approaches and the distance your attack will reach. Your physical strength will recover over time, so when you are injured, you need to make the decision to retreat and rebuild. Inside the castle, there are dangers such as hawks and falling fences that cannot be solved by just fighting with enemies. If you are attacked by an enemy while you are out of stance, you will fall in one hit, so be sure to distinguish between situations where you rush forward and situations where you prepare for battle.
