How to Play Katou Hifumi Kudan - Shougi Kyoushitsu

The directional pad moves the board cursor and selects problems. A selects a piece or confirms its destination; B cancels the current selection where allowed. Read any promotion or answer prompts before confirming.
Katou Hifumi Kudan - Shougi Kyoushitsu — About this game
Begin with the opposing king’s escape squares and the pieces you can use to restrict them. A forcing move should be considered together with the reply, not as a good-looking move on its own. When an answer is rejected, reassess the position and try another line instead of repeating the same choice.
