How to Play Kiwi Kraze: A Bird-Brained Adventure!

Quick start

Use SELECT to choose one player or two at player selection. In the opening Auckland stage, move with the Control Pad, jump with A, and shoot with B. Knock a rider off its balloon without destroying the balloon, then jump aboard; hold A to climb and release it to descend. Follow the route to the caged kiwi, using START to pause and check the map if you get lost. Surface for air when swimming. After game over, press START within eight seconds to use a continue; the manual allows three.

Controls

Control Pad: move left/right on land or a normal balloon; steer in four directions underwater. A: jump; hold to raise a balloon and release to descend; jump out at the water's surface. B: fire the current weapon, or spit water at the surface. START: pause/unpause and display the map; continue after game over. SELECT: choose one or two players at player selection. You cannot jump or fire normal weapons while submerged.

Kiwi Kraze: A Bird-Brained Adventure! — About this game

Tiki escapes Wally Walrus, but his friends and girlfriend Phee-Phee are carried away. Armed with a bow, he sets out across New Zealand to free them. Each stage is a winding platform maze with a captive kiwi to reach, rather than a simple dash to the right. Taking an enemy's balloon opens vertical routes: gain height, drift down, and thread your ride between spikes. Underwater passages add another problem, since Tiki must surface before his air runs out. Bombs, lasers, hidden items, and unusual bosses vary the journey through five worlds. The pause map helps you compare your position with the rescue point, but lingering in a stage brings the Time Keeper after you.
