How to Play Kong: The Animated Series

Quick start

Press START on the title screen and select New Game; choose Password only if you are continuing from a code. Once the introduction ends, read the COM-link panel for the stage objective. Most early areas ask you to find three tablets or parchments hidden through a maze-like level before the exit unlocks. Jason is quicker and can double-jump, whereas Kong is tougher and can climb vines. Change character when the COM-link shows they are close enough and share danger between their separate health bars. Search upper and lower routes before backtracking, gather fruit as you go, and remember that collecting 100 pieces grants another life. The cartridge records progress through passwords rather than a save slot.

Controls

Use the D-Pad to move, crouch and, as Kong, climb vines. B jumps; a quick tap produces a shorter jump, and Jason can press B again while airborne to double-jump. A attacks: Kong punches, while Jason fights with his staff or throws fruit when available. START pauses play. Unlike the usual GBA platform convention, this game assigns attack to A and jump to B. Switching between Kong and Jason, or merging them, is restricted by the COM-link range indicator. Accessible sources did not identify the switch button consistently, so use the on-screen COM-link prompt instead of assuming an L or R assignment.
