How to Play Koushien
Quick start
Start with START and select 1P of "Practice Match". Move the map of Japan with the cross keys and select your representative school with A, then select your opponent's school. In rock-paper-scissors to decide who goes first and who goes second, A is goo, B is chop, and if you don't press A+B or anything, you get par. The winning side chooses offense and defense using the top and bottom buttons and decides with A. If there are no changes in the player list, select "End" with A and proceed to the match. Swing with A when batting, pitch with A when defending, and let the fielder approach the batted ball to catch the ball.
Controls
Cross key: Movement of batters and fielders, designation of directions and bases. A: Swing/Pitching/Throwing, Returning to Base, Item Determination. B: bunt, running to the designated base or check, canceling the item. Base designation is right = first base, top = second base, left = third base, bottom = home base. When there is a runner, press Direction + B to lead, and press B again to steal base. The batter's bottom +A is an uppercut, and the batter's top +A is a downswing. START: Start/game time. SELECT is not used.
Koushien — About this game
They choose one school from all over the country that they want to support, and if they lose, they will compete in the Koshien Tournament, which will be the end of the season. Dealing with your opponent is not only reflected in hitting and throwing, but also in bunts that allow you to change the direction of the ball, and stealing bases after taking the lead. On defense, change your defensive shifts depending on the runner's situation, and connect the flow with pinch hitters and pinch runners. In force analysis, you can check trends in attack, defense, pitching, and mobility, and you can also change the name of your school to resemble your alma mater. Athletes also have a ``grit point'' that relates to how they exert their strength in favorable opportunities and situations where they are forced into a corner. In addition to tournaments, you can hold practice games and watch games between players on the computer, so you can first get a feel for pitching and hitting at your favorite representative school.
