How to Play Last Action Hero
Quick start
Press Start at the title screen. In the opening street, move right and use B to jump over the police cars and barricades. Watch for enemies attacking from behind and projectiles coming from the rubbish bins. Strike with A when a thug is close, then step away before the reply. Use Down to duck under suitable attacks and look for health as you advance. Later indoor scenes use Up at stairways to change floors.
Controls
Left/Right move Jack. Down crouches. A punches; Up+A performs a kick. B jumps. Up is also used at stairways in indoor scenes. Start begins the game from the title screen and pauses during play. Select is not used. These are NES actions, not the Game Boy version's ticket-item or driving controls.
Last Action Hero — About this game
Last Action Hero puts you in Jack Slater's shoes as a magical movie ticket breaks the boundary between the screen and the real world. The NES adventure mixes close-range fighting with obstacles and routes through streets, a medieval setting, houses and office floors. Enemies approach from both sides, so rushing forward can leave Jack trapped between attacks. Cars, furniture and changing floor levels make jumping as important as striking back. You must also find the right stairways and passages rather than expecting every room to scroll straight to the exit. Health pickups help keep the run going, while boss encounters demand a safer rhythm of attacking and moving out of range.
