How to Play Madden NFL 08
Quick start
Choose a short exhibition game or Practice with one team. Select a simple running play, read the down and yards needed, then snap and follow the blocking. Try one short pass next, checking the receiver marker before throwing. Review the result before changing formations.
Controls
Choose plays through the DS touch menus and move using the Control Pad in the standard setup. Touch a defender to select him when using that option. Kicking uses a power meter and timed button presses; follow the displayed sequence instead of the earlier editions' swipe kick.
Madden NFL 08 — About this game
Madden NFL 08 on DS offers Play Now, Season, Franchise, Practice, Situation and short football drills. Start with a manageable team and learn how one formation creates a running lane or short receiving option. The touch menus organize plays, and selecting a defender directly on screen helps put you near the next action. This year's kicking returns to a power meter with timed button presses rather than the earlier touch swipe. Choose a short drill before committing to a longer season, then use a custom situation to practise protecting a lead or recovering from a late deficit. Down, distance and clock are the guide to each new call. Begin with the opening instructions and practice the main interaction before pursuing optional rewards. Read the current objective, make one deliberate choice and watch its effect before repeating it. A short first session makes it easier to separate a missed instruction from a difficult challenge. Return to the available menu when you need to check progress or adjust your approach, then continue from the next clear objective.
